Private: NDSC Heritage Room

The NDSC Heritage Room, containing artifacts related to Notre-Dame-du-Sacrè-Coeur

The NDSC Heritage Room relates the story of the Congregation of Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur in Acadia, from its beginnings in 1924 up to the present.

This religious order has contributed extensively toward the preservation of the language, culture and faith of the Acadian people.

This is documented through 20 illustrated panels and numerous objects. Emphasis is placed on the influence of the NDSC Sisters on youth attending Acadian public schools and private boarding schools for girls in Bouctouche, Memramcook and Moncton (Collège Notre-Dame d’Acadie). The contribution of the sisters toward the preservation of the French language, the promotion of music, theatre and fine arts is also highlighted.

The collection of objects in several showcases includes articles related to classroom teaching, music, liturgy and every day activities within the convents.

A collection of some 30 works of art created by the Sisters is exhibited in the “Galerie NDSC”.
