Advocacy

The Association of Heritage New Brunswick (AHNB) represents the interests of Museums and Heritage Places in New Brunswick. The association advocates with both Federal and Provincial government authorities on behalf of Museums and Heritage Places, to raise awareness about heritage-related issues. Some of the addressed concerns involve funding, student programs, policies affecting Museums, relationships between museums and other institutions (like schools), and threats to the preservation of Heritage Places.

Led by the Alberta Museums Association, AHNB, in partnership with a consortium of provincial and territorial museums associations and the Canadian Museums Association, created templates for your museum’s letter writing campaign.

TOOLKIT

There are three types of resources in the toolkit: informational, communications, and advocacy. Informational tools will provide you with an overview of the data we collected through our engagement campaign, Museums for Me. Communications tools will help you adopt and share the evidence-backed language recommendations and messaging developed in response to the research. Advocacy tools will support you in advocating for your museum, the sector, and for community issues outside your museum.

The CMA’s latest toolkit is designed to guide museums across Canada in inviting their MPs or Senators to visit their institutions.  Toolkit: Empowering Connections  – Click here to access the toolkit.
