Artefact Conservation:

The Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) offers conservation treatments on objects and works of art in order to prevent further deterioration, to aid interpretation or to re-establish culturally significant qualities. Treatments can range from minimal stabilization to more extensive restorations. Apply here.

Heritage:

  • Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage 
    • Three grants to provide funding to help communities celebrate local history and heritage.
      • Local Festivals, Community Anniversaries and Legacy Fund 
  • Built Heritage Program 
    • This grant provides funding for conservation based projects for the use of heritage places while maintaining its unique heritage value. The deadline is EITHER April 1 OR September 7.
  •  Canada History Fund
    • This grant supports the production of learning material, learning activities or creation or maintenance of networks. 
  • Commemorations and Celebrations Program
    •  Funding for partial programs, initiatives or activities to commemorate historical events in the province.
  • Community Cultural Place Program
    • Funding to help convert heritage sites into cultural venues to enhance local pride, identity and local engagement. Deadline is EITHER April 1 OR September  7.
  • Documentary Heritage Communities Program
    • Funding for documentary heritage organizations to ensure Canada’s continuing memory is documented, preserved and available for the public. 
  • National Acadian Day
    • Provides funding to celebrate Acadian heritage and history on August 15.
  •  Property Tax Abatement Program
    • This grant helps owners of heritage properties to restore and re-use designated historic places.

Historical Societies:

  •  Commemorations and Celebrations Program
    • Funding for partial programs, initiatives or activities to commemorate historical events in the province. 
  • Documentary Heritage Communities Program
    • Funding for documentary heritage organizations to ensure Canada’s continuing memory is documented and preserved and available for the public. 
  • Historical Societies Assistance
    • Funds partial operational and project costs to produce and present periodicals that foster an appreciation for New Brunswick’s history. Deadline to apply is April 15 of the requesting year.

Museums:

  • Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage
    • Three grants to provide funding to help communities celebrate local history and heritage.
      • Local Festivals, Community Anniversaries and Legacy Fund 
  • Canada Cultural Spaces Fund
    • Funding to support arts and heritage cultural infrastructure project. 
  • Canada History Fund
    • This grant supports the production of learning material, learning activities or creation or maintenance of networks. 
  • Canada Travelling Exhibitions Indemnification Program
    • Helps museums to send objects from their collections to other museums throughout the country with the government assuming the financial risk for losses and damages. Various deadlines, please check website.
  •  Commemorations and Celebrations Program
    • Funding for partial programs, initiatives or activities to commemorate historical events in the province. 
  • Community Museum Assistance
    • This grant supports partial annual operational costs in relation to conservation and interpretation of museums. Deadline to apply is April 15 of each the requesting year.
  • Documentary Heritage Communities Program
    • Funding for documentary heritage organizations to ensure Canada’s continuing memory is documented. Preserved and available for the public. 
  • Exhibition Renewal and Museum Activities Support Program
    • This grant supports the creation of exhibitions and/or the renewal of existing exhibitions. Deadline is October 31 of each fiscal year.
  • Movable Cultural Property Grant
    • Helps organizations, Indigenous governing bodies and Indigenous-led heritage organizations to acquire cultural property or belongings that are associated with Canada’s national heritage. 
  • Museum Collection Inventory Program
    • This grant helps to provide assistance for creating or upgrading a museum’s physical or digital collection. Deadline  is for April 15 of each requesting year.
  • National Acadian Day  
    • Provides funding to celebrate Acadian heritage and history on August 15. 
  •  National Cost-Sharing Program for Heritage Places
    • The program is for lessees of national historic sites, heritage lighthouses and heritage railway stations with the mandate of protecting and presenting places of national historic significance, fostering public understanding and appreciation and enjoyment.
