12 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay, New Brunswick
The Old Medical Clinic at 12 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay, is a two-storey Second Empire building that once served as a school and medical clinic.
The Old Medical Clinic in Rothesay started out as a school, acting as the precursor to Rothesay Netherwood School. The exact year of construction is unknown; however, records indicate the school was in operation by at least 1877. The school ultimately shut down in 1891, when the Anglican Church took over operations and relocated the students to a new location. In the following years, the building was repurposed as a medical clinic and remained as such for many years. In 2006, the building hosted an art gallery as well as professional offices.
The clinic is also notable for its use of the Second Empire style, which was not commonly found in historical Rothesay buildings. This style is best seen in the clinic's mansard roof, with its large recessed dormer being its most prominent feature.
