351 Regent Street, Fredericton, New Brunswick
351 Regent Street is a two-and-a-half storey wood-frame Craftsman-style residence at the corner of Regent and Aberdeen streets in Fredericton. This gabled-roofed building is notable for its builder Fred Tims.
The house at 351 Regent Street in Fredericton is a Craftsman-style wood-frame residence from 1923. The house is one of many residential homes constructed by influential local builder Fred Tims, who was recognized for his commitment to affordable housing. Tims' career started with a number of double tenements he erected on York Street in the 1900s. In the early 1910s, he had a second row built along the side of Regent Street, opposite from where this building was later constructed.
In 1922, an increase in government funding in response to post-WWI housing shortages prompted new housing development in the local area. Among the houses erected during this time was this dwelling, which still stands on the corner of Regent and Aberdeen streets. It serves as a reminder both of the Fredericton building boom of the early 1920s and of Fred Tims' architectural legacy.
