The Dr. Brown House is a white two-and-a-half story Classic Revival house with a small veranda at 121 Chapel Street, Woodstock.
Erected in 1896, the Dr. Brown House is a two-and-a-half-storey Classical Revival residence It was originally owned by bank manager Mr. George White (1861-1922). In 1920, White sold the house Dr. J.F. Leigh Brown, who just returned to Woodstock after leaving his role as Chief Medical Officer for Saint John District.
During World War II, Dr. Brown joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, later becoming a Medical Officer for the Carleton and York Regiment.
Dr. Brown’s son Randolph was also involved in medicine and the position of Administrator of the Carleton Memorial Hospital for many years.
A historical marker was placed outside the house by the Town of Woodstock
