The W. G. Loggie Residence is a Foursquare residence with a mail-order floor plan. It prominently features an off-center entrance and a gabled front pediment.
The W. G. Loggie Residence at 33 Manse Street, Miramichi, is a Foursquare residence was built in 1899 for William G. Loggie. Loggie was a mill supervisor for A & R Loggie Co., the primary employer of the historic village of Loggieville, now part of Miramichi.
This house is an early example of basic or mail-order floor plans, which exploded in popularity around 1900, thanks to being more affordable for middle-class families. The elaborate and expensive homes of the late 19th century fell out of favour as this plainer and more economical style became more common. The architecture combines simplified variations of two different styles: Classical Revival, as seen in the front pediment and gable roof, and Queen Anne, as seen in the asymmetrical front façade and wrap-around veranda.
