Beaverbrook House

The Beaverbrook House, an elaborate yellow and black Second Empire residence

Discover the fascinating history of Historic Beaverbrook House, one of Miramichi’s treasured heritage sites. Built in 1877 as the home of shipbuilder William Watt, this beautiful Second Empire–style house later served as a manse for local Presbyterian ministers. In 1952, Lord Beaverbrook purchased the home, restored it, and donated it to the Town of Newcastle to become the Old Manse Library. Take a stroll down memory lane and visit historic Miramichi to immerse yourself in a fascinating part of the province’s colourful history.

Today, visitors can explore the historic house and learn about the life and legacy of Lord Beaverbrook, as well as the rich history of Miramichi and the people who helped shape the region. Whether you’re interested in local history, architecture, or one of New Brunswick’s most influential figures, Historic Beaverbrook House is well worth a visit.
