The Highland Society of New Brunswick at Miramichi is a volunteer, not-for-profit, charitable organization. Our purpose is to celebrate Scottish culture and provide an opportunity for education and growth of this diverse culture.  The society became incorporated on April 11th, 1846.

Celebrate Scottish culture, music, and traditions at the Highland Society of New Brunswick Scottish Festival in Miramichi. From August 14–16, 2026, this annual festival brings together locals and visitors alike to honour the rich Scottish heritage that has helped shape the Miramichi region.

The weekend begins on Friday, August 14, with the Tartan Candlelight Banquet, an evening of dining and entertainment featuring the Celtic band Drowsy Maggie from Sackville.

On Saturday, August 15, head to Wilson’s Point to enjoy a variety of festival activities set against the beautiful riverside landscape.

The festival concludes on Sunday, August 16, with a church service at St. Andrew’s United Church in Chatham, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Scottish Memorial in Elm Park. The celebrations wrap up with an afternoon musical program at the Newcastle Kin Centre, featuring traditional Scottish dancing, fiddling, and the unmistakable sound of the bagpipes.

Whether you’re celebrating your Scottish ancestry or simply looking to experience one of New Brunswick’s vibrant cultural festivals, the Highland Society of New Brunswick Scottish Festival offers a memorable weekend filled with history, music, and community.
