John Fisher Memorial Museum

Step into the story of the Kingston Peninsula at the John Fisher Memorial Museum, located in the basement of McDonald Consolidated School. Named after CBC’s beloved “Mr. Canada,” John Fisher, the museum has been preserving local history since 1982.

Explore exhibits featuring Wolastoqey basketry, settler tools, kitchen artifacts, and everyday objects that bring the region’s past to life.

1810 Carter House Tea Room

Enjoy tea, history, and gardens at the beautifully preserved 1810 Carter House Tea Room. One of the oldest homes on the peninsula, Carter House offers a unique glimpse into early New Brunswick life.

Built by Frances Newman Perkins and later home to prominent local families, the house has been lovingly preserved in its original style. Since opening to the public in 1998, it has welcomed visitors to enjoy tea and sandwiches while learning about the home’s fascinating past.

Cedars Lighthouse

Discover a charming riverside landmark at the historic Cedars Lighthouse, built in 1904.

Once used to guide steamboats to the grand Cedars Hotel in Long Reach, this preserved lighthouse offers a beautiful glimpse into the region’s river travel history. Though decommissioned in 1996, it remains a beloved symbol of the Kingston Peninsula.
